Scones
Scones werden in Großbritannien meist in ihrer klassischen Form genossen. Ganz traditionell werden hier beim Afternoon Tea die süßen oder neutralen Scones mit Clotted Cream (einer buttrigen Sahne) und Erdbeermarmelade bestrichen.

Recipe for Scones
Ingredients
- 500g flour mixed with 1 packet of baking powder
- 185g butter or magarine (room temperature)
- 70g castor sugar (Staubzucker)
- 2 eggs
- approx. ¼ l milk
- Heat oven to 200° - 220°!
- Put flour and baking powder into a bowl, rub in magarine or butter („light handed and light hearted“ = vorsichtig verbröseln).
- Make a hole in the middle, pour in eggs, milk and sugar and use a knife to mix.
- Sprinkle flour on your hands and knead quickly to a soft smooth dough.
- Sprinkle flour to a baking board (or table), roll out the dough, not thinner than 2cm.
- Cut out round cakes with pastry cutter (= runde Keksform, ca. 4-5 cm), place them on a greased baking sheet.
- Bake in hot oven till they are golden brown (approx. 12-15 min.).
- Should be eaten while still warm!
